| The Wide Angle Vision Foundation
announces the release of "Woot Camp Awakening", a compilation CD containing
songs submitted by alumni of Victor Wooten's first Bass/Nature Camp, held in October,
2000. The songs are stylistically diverse, from funk to new age, jazz, folk and country. All authors/arrangers are bass players who have donated their work. Profits from this CD will be used to support future Bass/Nature Camps. Also included is an improvisational performance by Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey and RoyEl "Future Man" Wooten at the Bass/Nature camp in 2000. It gives the listener a taste of the enthusiasm, excitement and energy that permeates the camp. Victor Wooten says he is greatly pleased by this effort. "I never expected anything like this to result from the camp. It's gratifying to know that campers are so happy with the experience that they are compelled to give back and support it." Tracks were compiled, mixed and mastered by Alana Rocklin and Brad Bowden, of New Polyphony Music in Nashville Tennessee. Contributors are: Bo Bradley, Scott Brady, James Cook, Maria "Pete" Durgan, Willie Dye, Ian Goldberg, Brian Kobayakawa, Roma Long, David Partrick, Denise Pilar-Yver, Alana Rocklin, Kevin Singleton, and John Yates. Alumni of the 2000 Bass/Nature Camp formed the Wide Angle Vision Foundation whose mission is to educate musicians about the relationship between nature and music. Since its inception in 2001, $1700 in donations from camp alumni has been distributed to fund scholarships and student aid at two subsequent Camps.
