The Wide Angle Vision Foundation (WAVF) was formed by alumni of the first of Victor Wooten's Bass Nature Camps (BNC), held in September 2000. Participants in the camp were so moved by the experience that they wanted to help Victor Wooten in his mission to educate other musicians about how nature and music are related to each other.

The mission of the WAVF is to provide financial assistance to musicians seeking to further their understanding of music's relationship to the world around them, and to provide aid and assistance to BNC in it's pursuit of same.

To this end, WAVF collected money from alumni to support the second camp, held August 2001. The objective was to collect funds equivalent to tuition for one student. The foundation collected $600.00.

In that this contribution is being delivered too late to be used as a formal scholarship fund, it is hereby given to Victor Wooten to offset expenses of the camp as he sees fit.

The Wide Angle Vision Foundation is working to prepare a CD of original works of campers. The proceeds will support future Bass/Nature Camps. It should be released before the end of 2001. For more information, visit www.wavf.org. We are interested in hearing from 2001 campers and welcome their participation and support.    Contributors and their comments are as follows:

Len Sitnick: It's almost a year later, and I still can't completely fathom the impact that the Bass/Nature Camp had on my life. The main thing I discovered for myself was that each of us has our own unique part to play in the song of the universe. While we look up to our mentors and teachers, while we attempt to emulate many of their techniques, while we try to absorb their wisdom, we are not meant to BE them. But use the inspiration that they give you as
rocket fuel, as you launch on your own journey of musical and life
discovery. Find your own song, fearlessly sing and play it, and add your own part into the amazing music that reverberates throughout nature and the cosmos."

James Cook: I feel I have been blessed to have been able to attend Bass/Nature Camp 2000. It was a very positive and moving experience for me. The positive energy I was exposed to has affected me and many others in my life as well. I wish for everyone to have the same experience as I and the other fellow campers had. The time we had is something we all still talk about with excitement. I know this camp will be something that will make a mark for all time to see. God Bless ...

Maria "Pete" Durgan: BNC was a beautiful, formative experience for me. It was exciting to meet and take lessons from Victor, Steve, Reggi, Adam, and the other staff. I was so inspired by the lessons and performances and by meeting and talking with the other students. Most importantly, my feelings that music was the most important force in my life were reinforced through a better understanding of how music relates to the natural order of our existence. That is the lesson I treasure the most, and I am deeply grateful. Have a wonderful camp! May everyone's vision be expanded and the inspiration flow and flow.

Alex Hayes: The very first thing that really hit home from Victor's camp was learning HOW TO LEARN. Teaching us to expand our minds and our senses...it opened new worlds for everything, music and more. The friendships and family atmosphere that was forged there is something I can never forget, and waking up the next morning after camp ended felt like a rebirth of reality. It's unfortunate that everybody who applies can't go, but from every 60 people thats lives are turned around from camp, they have the knowledge and power to teach what Victor and everyone shared with them with however many other people willing to listen. And it will just keep spreading, growing stronger, touching people everywhere.

I can't wait to see where the future of Vic's camp leads us all. Peace, and Wide Angle Vision.

Tracy Hardy Johnson: When I made the decision a few years ago to learn to play the bass, I had no idea where that would take me. Iwanted to put my music abilities to good use and get out and play with other musicians. Then my bass teacher showed me Victor Wooten's 'Bass Day '98' video and my life changed forever. The 'life force' that flowed through Victor's music, touched me, and brought me to the Bass/Nature Camp is profound beyond words. I want to continue to pass on that wonderful force to others. I am so excited for all the bass players who will be attending BNC 2001 soon! Peace, love, and music be with you all. http://www.activebass.com/members/tracyhardyjohnson

Kevin Singleton: I can not even begin to express the significant impact BNC has had on my life. I do hope my small contribution in some way helps. I am very excited for the new campers and know they will leave this weekend with more vision, not only for their music but also every aspect of their life, than they thought possible. Thank You Victor and everyone else that has made BNC possible.

John Yates: Bass/Nature Camp helped show me how magical the musical stew can be. Where once I could only stir the mix, I can now get in the pot.

Peace, Love, Music and Wide Angle Vision to everyone!
