The Wide Angle Vision Foundation
is planning a second CD to support
Victor Wooten's Bass/Nature Camps

This is a notice for alumni of the BNC experience only.
Attention Campers!

Wide Angle Vision Foundation is proud to announce that there will be a second Wootcamp CD!

As most of you know, the Wide Angle Vision Foundation produced a CD of original material from Bass/Nature Camp alumni of October 2002. The CD – titled “Woot Camp Awakenings”– includes pieces from 13 artists as well as an amazing 11 minute improvisational piece starring Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey and Roy “Future Man” Wooten recorded at the very first BNC. (check it out on-line at www.wavf.org).

Not only is the CD sold online, but it is also sold along with other merchandise at Victor’s performances and at all of the camps. All of you have seen how valuable the CD is during the closing minutes of your camp on Sunday when WAVF turns those proceeds into meaningful support of the camp.

Here is your opportunity to be part of those final minutes of camp.

For starters, here’s some information you need to know:

  1. Victor has agreed to be on the CD

  2. There are requirements and deadlines that have to be met in order to be fair to all, keep costs down and stay on deadline

  3. There is a fee involved

  4. We need to take an inventory of those of you who can and will participate

Please note the following guidelines and requirements:

  • You may contribute ONE song

  • Songs must be the contributor’s original work (this saves us dealing with  copyrights, publishers, etc.)

  • Songs should not exceed 4 minutes in length

  • You must sign a release that allows the Wide Angle Vision Foundation to use your song on this CD

  • You must submit your work fully mastered and in final format. We will let you know the right file formats. We will only master the levels for entries for consistency of the entire CD.

  • Contributors may provide a photo and bio or general comments for inclusion in the CD notes. We don’t want to tell you how many words to limit your comments to. Generally a short paragraph will do, but we can’t guarantee that it will be printed exactly as submitted.

  • There is a $150 fee for each contribution to help cover production costs of the CD. (All fees are used only to cover costs of the CD. No administration costs beyond what’s needed to get the CD produced, no salaries, no nonsense.)

  • We will notify you of deadlines, i.e., submit master, bio, pix, and fee. We will want this all at once and in one package

We may have too many submissions for one CD. Producing a double CD is a possibility. But before addressing that issue, we need an idea of how many of you who can really, really do this.

First things first!

If you can and will do the things necessary to meet these criteria, this is your chance to be on a CD with Victor, this is your chance to share your music with other campers and the public, and this is your chance to tell everyone – through your music – what your Bass/Nature Camp experience meant to you.

If you want to be a part of this adventure, shoot an email to Pete Durgan: pete@wavf.org and also copy the group on your response.  We’ll keep you posted about everything else.

And if you know other BNC alumni that are not on this list, please forward this message to them.  We're not sure we have everyone's email addresses.
